Alice Walker is spending the next few days in Gaza in order to bring attention to the destruction caused by its recent conflict with Israel. She will be delivering aid and meeting with local women and NGOs as  part of a 60+ person delegation from CODEPINK, “a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

In an interview Walker said,

“I feel that what is happening in the Middle East is very important because the situation is so volatile…I love people, and I love children and I feel that the Palestinian child is just as precious as the African-American child, as the Jewish child…It’s very important that Americans understand what is happening, and that we hold our own administration accountable.”
