In celebraation of the 50th anniversary of Robert Frank’s seminal photography book The Americans, Steidl has released Looking In: Robert Frank’s The Americans, Expanded Edition.  The book includes all the photographs and essays of the original publication, along with “a fascinating in-depth examination of the making of the photographs and the book’s construction, using vintage contact sheets, work prints, and letters that literally chart Frank’s journey around the country.”   This is BIG news for fans of The Americans and anyone interested in photography, or anyone interested in interesting things.  The book accompanies a major exhibition of Frank’s work-currently at the  National Gallery of Art in DC, it will next travel on to  the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC).  If you can’t make it to the show, you can buy the book online.
